👋 Hi. I'm your Artificially Intelligent Location Assistant.

AILA for short.Tell me more

I am a service built on open data,

I analyse a huge amount of information to identify the best locations for businesses.

The data I interrogate is pooled from official records and information collected from the entire Internet.

This includes SIC codes, events, white papers, patents, business services and skills...

...to give me a fuller picture of the economic abilities of individual cities.

My latest task has been to examine the Digital Technology industry to identify city specific strengths.

Please click the button below to discover which city would be best to locate your Digital HQ.

Please answer the following questions.

  1. Are you planning or are already trading online?

  2. Are you planning to, or already provide, digital services?

  3. Do you take cyber security seriously?

  4. Do you think IoT will play a part in your business?

IoT - Internet of Things - the connection of everyday physical items to internet-based services.

  5. Do you use data or artificial intelligence to help make business decisions?

  6. Select any other important digital tech sectors

  7. Is a strong local digital and tech community beneficial for your workforce?

  8. How important is research and innovation to your business?

  9. Would you be considering London as a location for your business?

Your results

Digital tech ranking

This shows the events, organisations and innovation data combined and graded to give a score for each city. The data is focussed around the digital technology sectors such as ecommerce, IOT, data & AI. The higher a city scores the better the performance and rank.

Organisations

This ranks in order the cities with the most organisations active in the digital technology space. It is more comprehensive than data provided by Companies House because it delves deeper into organisations abilities across many industries to give a fuller picture of the digital technology sector as a whole rather than highlighting specialists.

Community

Using data available from Eventbrite and Meetup, you can see how active the digital technology sector is within each city. Again, this shows the top 5 cities and the breakdown of types of tech events and meetups highlighted by the different coloured bars. Click them to reveal more information.

Innovation

This is the number of papers and patents submitted by universities and research facilities over the last 14 years. It helps you get an idea where innovation is happening across the UK.

Travel

Populations within a 1 hour commute. As commuting gets more difficult it is important to look at travel times to locations. This data shows the number of people who can travel to the centre of a city within an hour based on all modes of transport from walking, cycling, public transport and driving.

About AILA

AILA is an artificial intelligent service bought to you by The Data City. AILA has been developed to help businesses access the huge open data source that has been collected about UK cities and the digital technology sector. The current role is to support organisations in their selection of alternative locations for a digital technology HQ.

AILA accesses data collected from Companies House, Bing, Eventbrite, Meetup, ..... and uses artificial intelligence to make sense of it and to ensure it presents a true picture of each individual city and sector. As far as we know, there is no other data source that is so accurate and up-to-date.

By default AILA excludes London due to excessive overhead costs, but you can include it. AILA also only presents the top 5 cities, but you are able to download a more detailed report which includes 28 of the major UK cities.

AILA has been funded by marketing from local enterprise partnerships and the EU.... and hope to grow this free service by evidencing usage by sharing your contact information with more of these local government funded organisations.

If you would like to sponsor AILA or have any questions please get in touch through the website www.thedatacity.com
